THE POEM TAG
Hey you,
I saw this tag that Soo Tian created (pure genius! ;D)
and knew at once that I just had to give it a try.
You can view his post (and poem) at:
http://www.xanga.com/silentsoliloquy
Yes, I know, he didn’t tag me
but I have proudly (and shamelessly)
taken it upon myself to complete the challenge! ;P
OK it took me 40 minutes to write this!
Enjoy :]

INSTRUCTIONS by Soo Tian:
The task of the "tagged" is to write a pseudo-poem using a similar format as above.
Only the first line of each stanza is standardized (e.g. "when i was five").
Each stanza has syllables equal to the "diagram" below:
(4-5-6-7-8-9-4-3)
(4-5-6-7-8-9-4-3)
(5-6-7-8-9-10-5-4)
(5-6-7-8-9-10-5-4)
As you can see, it goes up slowly
then drops down suddenly in the last two lines.
Write it, then if you like, tag five other people.

NB: Credit of idea, title and first line of every stanza goes to Soo Tian. :]
four stages of life
by sha-lene
i. peter and jane
At five I was
a child who had seen
so little of other
kids and could never complete
her work being fascinated
by the antics of playing children
and got sent out
and punished
ii. dj primary
At ten I was
the apple of my
teacher’s eye and kept as
pets thirty-two hamsters and
wrote vampire tales on recycled
paper in ball point pens because my
dad did not want
to spoil me
iii. dj secondary
At fifteen I was
climbing my way up the
editorial ladder
taking risks to write material
that both irked and pleased different sets
of readers and that was when I learnt not
to hold out for all
others to nod.
iv. taylor’s subang
At eighteen I am
a different person
than who I thought I’d be and
the world a darker place than i
thought possible and over the years
i came to realize that in so many
parts of life I have
thought wrong – and learned.

I can tag 5 people at this point, having completed the task!
However, it isn’t easy
(well, I personally found it a fun challenge!)
And I don’t want to oblige anyone to write.
But just out of fun, I’ll put down 5 tagging ‘suggestions’.
These are some people that I think
would find it fun to write the poem!
1. Cheryl
2. Mae
3. Carmen
4. Weiling
5. Shern Ren
But if the rest of you want to do it, by all means, do it!
Hahaha.
But you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.
And drop off your link on my tagboard
so that I can enjoy your poem too
(below this blog’s banner, there are four small words
– one of them is ‘Tag’).
:]
Go on, it’s a good sport of fun!
